Christmas with the McCarthys

On Christmas Eve Rachel stopped over for a visit.  She may or may not have taken Brady some short order cook hats from Nifty Fifties.  How cute is that!?  She even brought one for Miles and a few extras.

Rachel bought Brady the 4th and final book in this series.  He has loved his other 3 books almost to death.  They are hanging on my a few shreds of paper but he still loves them.

Pap likes to live life on the edge and let Brady feed himself an applesauce cup on the couch.  Luckily we are super anal about making a mess and Brady has learned this from us.

Rachel bought Brady this book with all different textures on it.  I mentioned trying to feel it with his foot.  Well from then on out he had to touch eat page with his foot, makes reading the book more interesting I guess.  We were all laughing hysterically watching him try to lift his leg to the page.

Treating everyone to some dinner music on Christmas Eve.  It wasn't quite the soothing sounds we were looking for but he had fun.

Helping Mimi make Christmas breakfast, or just eating cantaloupe while Mimi cooked.  Brady is like his Dad, better at watching things get done than actually doing them.

Trying out the pullback racer from his Hess car.  I am pretty sure the adults had way more fun with this thing than Brady did.

Getting help from Uncle Tommy.

We got matching family jammies from Nan.  How cool are we?

Brandywine River Museum

On Christmas Eve my mom and I took Brady to a cute little museum near her house.  We were all excited to see the train exhibit that is there every year at Christmas.  Well as soon as I saw the sign that said "NO STROLLERS" I knew it wasn't going to be nearly as enjoyable as it should have been.  Did the person who thought that was a good idea ever go out without a stroller with a toddler?  Ugh!  He ran from one end to the other and back again.  That kid has a serious amount of energy.  He did enjoy the train exhibit and may have glanced at some of the art.

Looking at the creepy dolls.

Checking out the trains.

There was a lot of this.... chasing the nutball kid in the orange shirt.

There was this adorable display of homemade creature ornaments that are made from stuff from nature.  Like sticks, pinecones, straw, acorns, etc.  It was super cute.  He was talking to the cutest beaver on the floor.

Helicopter Museum

On Wednesday morning we went with Uncle Tommy to the Helicopter Museum in West Chester.  Tom has always wanted to go there so we decided to make everyone happy and go there.  This place was fun, Brady was able to sit in most of the helicopters and push the buttons and steer.  He thought it was awesome.

Fun outings in Philly

Brady and I went on a few really fun outings while we were in Philly.  First we went to Reading Terminal Market to have my favorite hot roast pork sandwich from Dinics.  Brady enjoyed a hotdog with ketchup of course.

There weren't highchairs so Brady got to be a big boy and sit in his own chair.

Then we went to the Constitution Center to see the Princess Diana exhibit.  It was so cool to see all her stuff.  Brady didn't mind going along for the sights but loved running free in the lobby.

That's Mimi and Brady up there.

Lastly we walked the few blocks to see the Liberty Bell.

Flying is Fun

We flew to PA last weekend to spend some extra time at home before Christmas.  Our flight was supposed to be on Sunday but about 20 minutes before takeoff they cancelled it.  We ended up flying out on Monday morning.  By then Brady and I were pros at airport security.  Although the second day we were treated slightly like terrorists because I was flying with a sippy cup (must have been that guy's first day on the job).  Apparently my shoes set off the alarms for bomb stuff.  The guy asked me if I had been walking around outside at all.... of course.  Even Brady's shoes set it off.  Oh well, we just smiled and went on our way.  The flight was quick and easy and Brady was such a good boy.  He didn't make a peep and watched his movies the whole way.  The flight was not full so Brady even got his own seat.  It was a wonderful experience and I would surely do it again.  I borrowed this crazy contraption that turns a carseat into a rolly cart which made carrying 2 suitcases, 2 carryons, and a carseat tolerable.

Waiting to takeoff and watching the planes.

I don't think he even noticed we were flying, he was so engrossed in his movies.

I took his binky out to get his attention, it worked but it pissed him off.

Waiting at arrivals in Philly.  The women at the car rental desk couldn't believe how quiet he just sat there with all the people coming and going and the freezing cold air blowing in the door.

Waiting for Mimi to pick us up.

A few fun outings

We have been back in PA for a few days and I am without a computer.  Not surprisingly I have taken lots of pictures but I am not used to using Tom's computer so I am only putting on a few pics today.  I will play catch up once I get my computer back.  Enjoy!

On Monday we went with Mimi into Philly to see the Princess Diana exhibit at the National Constitution Center.  It was really neat for me and my mom and luckily Brady was a good sport and just went along for the ride.  When we were done, we let him loose in the lobby.  He thought he was quite the big shot pushing around his stroller and running like a nut.  Luckily most people thought he was cute and didn't mind him acting like a nutball.

We walked the 2 blocks over to see the Liberty Bell.

Today, Wednesday, we went with Uncle Tommy to the Helicopter Museum.  It was an awesome place to go with a toddler who is interested in things that "Go".  He was able to climb in and out of lots of helicopters and touch lots of buttons.  He did nearly lose his thumb in a metal bar but it didn't bother him too much.  I have lots of pictures from here but need to fix them on my computer first.  This is my favorite picture by far from today.
