The Beach

On friday we headed out to the coast with Jim for work.  Brady and I occupied ourselves with some retail therapy while Daddy worked.  Then we went to Brady's favorite place......the beach.  "The beach" is said in a shrieky little boy voice at a very high pitch with lots of excitement.  This kid is a serious beach bum, which is good because so am I.  And if he didn't like the beach, he was in for a long life of beach going with a bad attitude.  We didn't get there until late in the day but that's fine with us.

Cheese face.  Not a safe activity at all.....note to self.

He was trying to get warm from playing in the water forever.  It was downright chilly and I didn't even like getting my knees wet and this kid was up to his face in it and loving every second of it.  We finally said that's enough and pulled him out when his lips were dark purple and his whole body was shaking.

Then he sat on my lap and we took turns taking each other's pictures.  I will save your eyes from having to see the pics he took, mostly up close shots of my nostrils and mouth, and show you pics of my goofball.

When we got home we had a surprise waiting for us..... a new to us jogging stroller.  With all the running Jim does now, we really wanted Brady to be able to go for some of the shorter ones.  He loves it!!  Mostly because he gets to go into town and sees a million motorcycles and trucks and people.

Another cheese face.  I am so happy the cheese face is back.  Now I just won't over use it and have it go away again.  And even now when he sees my camera he will just say cheese.

Fun in the pool

So I bought myself, I mean Brady, a new pool.  He was still loving that silly little round baby pool but I thought it was time we upgrade.  And I will be honest, I really bought it so I could fit in there with him.  And fit I did.  I sat my fat ass in that sucker for over an hour while he flitted in and out and all over the yard.  That kid didn't sit still for almost 2 hours.  This thing is totally worth the few bucks it cost.  And yes, my house/yard now looks like a toys r us, but its worth it for my sanity.

This is what I did and it was delightful.

Then Daddy got home and was able to hook us up with a slide.  I wasn't able to move that beast by myself.  We practice 100% safety here at the Lasher House.

Muffin Man

I have heard stories about toddlers liking to help in the kitchen.  I thought they were all lies.  The only "help" Brady gives in the kitchen is picking out the dinner veggie or trashing the place.  As I mentioned in a previous post blueberries were on super sale and I stocked up and decided I would make my favorite recipe of my Mom's, her blueberry muffins.  I got everything all set up and imagine he would take one look and go back to racing his cars around, but surprisingly he stuck around the whole time.  He was such a good helper and loved holding the spoons.  It was funny to hear his commentary the whole time "Brady help, hold spoons, good job Brady" over and over again.  He also was obsessed with checking on the egg in the bowl.  He would pour something in there and then ask about the egg.  I actually had fun doing this and plan on doing it again really soon.  Mostly because they muffins were gross, I am pretty sure I missed an ingredient and my baking powder was kinda old.  Ok, it was really old and I had to scrape it out of the container with a knife, but don't judge.

Watching the egg.

Watching it mix up was fun until he realized the egg was gone and then he was pretty pissed off.

"I'm not going to smile Mom, so stop asking me too.  I am taking my job very serious here."

The finished product, didn't look too bad but tasted like shit.  So we will try again after I get back to the grocery store for more baking powder.

I can't wait to do some more baking with him.  Although I won't like when he figures out how fun it is to lick the spoons I have to share them.  But until then.....

Walking the dogs

Tonight we were on our way our to take a night time walk and it started sprinkling.  We didn't want to get too far from the house in case it started pouring.  So we felt bad for the dogs since they obviously got their hopes up to go for a walk so we let Brady walk them around the yard.  He kept yelling at Zoe and saying she was stuck when she wouldn't go his way.  He did surprisingly well.  Sometimes it was more Zoe walking Brady but he didn't mind.

My favorite one of the night.  He is saying she is stuck and yanking on the leash, but really its because she was hog tied and couldn't walk anywhere.

Of course I couldn't let Jim be the only one getting smooches.

We asked him where baby sister was.

Where did Brady go?

Oh there he is.....

And because I live life on the edge I let him walk both dogs at the same time.

Corn on the cob

Another first of the season..... corn on the cob.  It was "hot" which it wasn't really but I had Jim put corn holders on there just in case.  Who would have thought he would be able to manage them, but he did.  He loved it and kept shouting "corn, corn, corn!"  And for once, this photo session was actually Jim's idea.  Once he saw how cute Brady was working the holders he said "go get your camera."
